Product thinking
I look beyond whether a feature can be built. I consider whether it should be built, what user or business problem it solves, what assumptions need validation, what can fail, and what the team will need to maintain afterward.
Senior Software Engineer · WordPress Specialist
For more than 13 years, I have built and led the development of content platforms, commerce systems, SaaS products, and complex digital experiences.
WordPress is where I have developed the deepest expertise — from Gutenberg and enterprise architecture to performance, payments, accessibility, and long-lived platform ownership. My broader work spans React, Next.js, Node.js, PHP, product development, technical leadership, and applied generative AI.
Based in Islamabad and working remotely with teams across the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, and beyond.

I started building WordPress and PHP applications professionally in 2013. Over time, that work expanded from custom themes and plugins into Gutenberg systems, enterprise platforms, commerce, payment infrastructure, headless applications, accessibility, performance, and product engineering.
WordPress remains my deepest specialization, but it is not the boundary of my work. I also build with React, Next.js, TypeScript, Node.js, Laravel, APIs, modern deployment platforms, and the surrounding systems required to take a product from an idea to reliable production software.
My strongest work usually sits between engineering, product, and technical direction. I can understand the commercial requirement, shape the product behavior, design the architecture, guide a team, and remain close enough to the implementation to protect quality.
I am most useful when a platform or product has become important enough that both technical decisions and product decisions need to be made carefully.
WordPress has been the center of my professional work for more than a decade. I understand it as an editor, application framework, publishing platform, commerce system, integration layer, and long-lived piece of business infrastructure. That depth allows me to make decisions that account for the whole system, not only the feature currently being built.
My broader engineering experience helps me make better decisions both inside and outside WordPress. I understand when WordPress should own a capability, when a separate application layer is more appropriate, and how the different parts of a modern product should communicate.
I work across frontend applications, backend services, APIs, payments, infrastructure, authentication, deployment, and production operations when the product requires it.
React, Next.js, TypeScript, modern JavaScript, component architecture, state management, responsive interfaces, design-system implementation, and accessible frontend development.
PHP, Laravel, Node.js, REST APIs, WPGraphQL, authentication, database design, background processes, integrations, payments, and application-level business logic.
CI/CD, GitHub Actions, Docker, cloud deployment, caching, observability, security, production debugging, and long-term platform ownership.
Contribution keeps me connected to WordPress as a living open-source project, not only as a platform used for client work. I contribute through code, documentation, issue investigation, testing, and the everyday process of understanding how WordPress behaves in real implementations.
I have led development teams, shaped technical direction, translated product requirements into engineering plans, reviewed architecture, mentored engineers, improved delivery processes, and worked directly with stakeholders on scope, priorities, risk, and execution.
My leadership style remains close to the work. I can move between product discussions, architecture, code review, delivery planning, and hands-on implementation without losing sight of the customer or the commercial objective.
I look beyond whether a feature can be built. I consider whether it should be built, what user or business problem it solves, what assumptions need validation, what can fail, and what the team will need to maintain afterward.
I turn ambiguous requirements into understandable systems, practical milestones, technical decisions, and delivery plans. I make tradeoffs visible so teams can move with confidence.
I have led developers across disciplines, reviewed implementation quality, helped engineers through difficult technical problems, and established clearer standards for ownership, communication, and delivery.
I am comfortable taking responsibility from initial product discussion through architecture, implementation, testing, release, and continued improvement.
Comfortable operating across senior engineering, technical leadership, and product direction.
Strong product development requires more than converting requirements into code. It requires understanding the user, the business model, the operational constraints, the risks, and the reason a feature exists.
I work comfortably in the space between product and engineering. I can challenge unclear requirements, identify unnecessary complexity, define practical first versions, protect the architecture, and help teams move from discussion to delivery.
I work with generative AI in product development, engineering workflows, research, structured content, retrieval-based experiences, and internal automation.
The difficult part is rarely calling a language model. The real work is designing the surrounding product: reliable data flows, useful context, permissions, human review, evaluation, failure handling, and a clear reason for AI to exist in the experience.
I am most interested in AI systems that are useful, measurable, maintainable, and grounded in real product needs.
Mature WordPress platforms carry years of decisions, integrations, workflows, and operational knowledge. I prefer understanding the system before proposing that it be replaced.
A technically elegant solution is incomplete if editors cannot use it safely or future engineers cannot understand it. Good architecture supports both.
Payments, publishing workflows, integrations, permissions, and asynchronous processes rarely fail in convenient ways. Those states should be considered part of the product.
Every meaningful change should improve more than the visible output. It should also improve clarity, maintainability, confidence, performance, or operational understanding.
My current focus spans Gutenberg architecture, enterprise WordPress, commerce and payment infrastructure, modern React and Next.js applications, product development, technical leadership, and applied generative AI.
I continue to contribute to WordPress while exploring how AI and modern application architecture can improve products, engineering workflows, and the way teams move from an idea to reliable software.
I am open to conversations around senior software engineering, WordPress architecture, product development, technical leadership, complex implementations, contract roles, and selected long-term opportunities.
